Billy Sullivan was born in New York City and studied at the High School of Art and Design and the School of Visual Arts. He has had numerous solo exhibitions at galleries including Nicole Klagsbrun and Fischbach Gallery in New York and Regen Projects in Los Angeles. His work chronicles his world; his portraits capturing those around him in bright color with intensely contrasting stark areas of white. Sullivan was awarded with the National Endowment for the Arts grant in 1987. He is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Norton Musuem, Guild Hall and The Parrish Art Museum among others.
