Generations Collide

May 20 ‐ June 20, 2010

William Wood is an accomplished artist who has shown extensively throughout the world since1994. His paintings are in the permanent collections of many leading American museums, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. In this exhibition, Mr. Wood demonstrates his experience and insight in a vibrant blue series of depth-defining and radiant oils on canvas.

John Ross Rist (Rhode Island School of Design, BFA, 2006) appears in this, his New York City debut showing.  In 1997, at 15, Mr. Rist won the US Holocaust Memorial National Art Contest with his first ever painting, which now still remains on display at the Washington DC Holocaust Museum.  Now 27, John unveils his latest body of work. His "splatter heads" revisit renaissance classics while shedding light on the darker side. Bravely, John successfully combines old classical styles with modern action painting techniques; something so many contemporary artists try to achieve.

Lisa de Kooning, who studied at the Lacoste School of the Arts, will be showing her whimsical bronze sculptures. Ever immersed in art and surrounded by her father's great works, Lisa inherited a love and understanding of art that she has developed into an adept and expressive hand.  Her magnetic and capturing sculptures range from the 1980s to her most recent works, made specifically for this show. This is Ms. De Kooning’s debut exhibition in New York City.

Matisse Patterson is a passionate artist whose creative impulse cannot be thwarted. Matisse spent a year studying art at SACI in Florence, before transferring to the School of Visual Arts, NY, where she is currently studying (BFA, 2011).  She has exhibited in Florence, NYC, and the Hamptons, including several installation pieces, in exhibits at diverse locations such as The 711 Gallery, the Bowery Hotel, The Art Barn and the Lola Gallery.  Matisse joins this generational-defining exhibition to show her innovative, conceptual works.

Bob Colacello is one of the most prolific biographical writers in the United States. In the 1970s, he received considerable recognition as editor of Interview Magazine. He went on to author the highly praised, Ronnie and Nancy: Their Path to the White House, 1911-1980 and a memoir of Andy Warhol in the '70s and early '80s,  Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Close Up,  which was critiqued by the New York Times, as the “best-written and the most killingly observed” book on the subject.  In this exhibition, Mr. Colacello exhibits a rare series of vintage photographic prints from his most recent publication, OUT, which capture the happening late '70's and early '80s art and social scene.

Daniel Fuller, 27, from Hawaii, became interested in photography at the age of 17, while traveling around the world as a model and world-renowned surfer. Three years ago, he became intrigued by the full moon's luminosity on the Pacific Ocean, and was determined to fully capture such exquisite beauty in photographs.  Mr. Fuller has continued to develop and enhance his well-received “Moonscape Series.” In this exhibition, he displays his latest interpretations, which are now also captured on film.
